11th Hour Radio
Co-hosts Kristina Stykos & Emily Howe debrief the week with humorous banter relating to the ups and downs of being artist-types trying to make ends meet in rural Vermont. Each episode includes interludes of homegrown music from Kristina and friends. Based on their live radio show broadcast Fridays at 11 a.m. on Royalton Community Radio, WFVR-LP, South Royalton, Vermont.

Co-hosts Kristina Stykos and Emily Howe make contact via Facebook Messenger to decide how to proceed with the show after a small vehicular event puts Emily’s car in a ditch, then mastermind a continuation of their discussion by phone, covering topics including correct techniques for braking on slushy dirt roads, dad’s winter driving drills, an unlikely nexus for world wide communication, cats in the toilet, how John took the car with snow tires, facing the truth about your animal assignment, a new use for contact lens solution, connecting with your inner flatlander, an unending dearth of plugs, a surprise psychoanalysis of cartoon characters, a misunderstanding about mushrooms, boiling twigs and the taste of nature, a timely Kurt Vonnegut poem, getting firewood out of the driveway, gamer culture’s creation of a virtual groping, the weird deceptions of Halloween, a man-sized baby, letting go of creepy clowns, the barbaric wrongness of flying hunks of metal, the tedious herd mentality of generic weather banter, unpacking “hell hath no fury” with an unusual cheese analogy, harnessing women’s scorn as a renewable energy product, the conditioned reflex to implode with anger, a missed grilled cheese appointment, cream-of-wheat as purveyor of comfort, a deep contemplation on grains and their bins, putting the corn back in cornmeal, the fiction of “all weather” tires, six Polish cousins and a cheese shop in Vienna, reimagining the dog sled alternative, the travesty of sad animal children’s books and movies, brainstorming keywords for the show excluding “zany”, staying home alone with your socks - and so much more!
