11th Hour Radio
Co-hosts Kristina Stykos & Emily Howe debrief the week with humorous banter relating to the ups and downs of being artist-types trying to make ends meet in rural Vermont. Each episode includes interludes of homegrown music from Kristina and friends. Based on their live radio show broadcast Fridays at 11 a.m. on Royalton Community Radio, WFVR-LP, South Royalton, Vermont.

In this episode co-hosts Kristina Stykos and Emily Howe discuss mixed feelings about bluegrass, rain depression, when things are a wreck, a dorky hat, dreading the bride’s arrival, noon vs. 12 am, skipping out on work, charming your audience with bloopers, chasing the elusive yellow lilac, tips for hiding a dead sheep, fluorescent clothing, Pepto Bismol as a possible “pink” drink option, a deep dive into the pros and cons of celery, remembering “Ants on a Log”, the difficulties of mastering plastic egg as a rhythm instrument, nervous tension during very insignificant and unmemorable stage performances, a cheap shot at cheap beer, not being able to get the bartender’s attention, being short or short-ish, factoids as opposed to facts, a joke about the moth and the podiatrist, confusing caterpillars with centipedes, planning another drunken craft night, more uses for blenders, the hows and whys of texting your mechanic, the warm fuzzy feeling that sometimes comes with car repair, saving nuts as bolts as keepsakes, an argument about NASA’s sun simulator, some serious reservations concerning naked gardening, dealing with unhappy service workers and counter help, stepping away from people who have tantrums, beating the odds after a terrible relationship, whether or not we are destined to repeat our mistakes, good karma when you least expect it, a porcupine alert, great oxen names, a far out application for the word “crepuscular” - and so much more!

Featuring music from Vermont musicians & friends: Nolan McKelvey [High Country]; Mary McGinniss [The Wind is Lonesome]; Marek Stycos [Genevive].
